Requesting an Appointment
To request an appointment, please either:
- Use our online process to request a GP appointment (by far the easiest and preferred option), https://patchs.ai/practice/mansfieldmedicalcentre
- please note, if you are wanting to book an appointment with the Healthcare Assistant, Nursing Associate or Practice nurse you can do this directly by speaking to reception. You are not required to submit a patchs request.
For patients unable to use the patchs online consultation system, we have the alternative options below
- Use the patchs telephone assistant (call the main surgery number, 024 7645 7551, and choose option 1)
- Call our main switchboard number to speak to a receptionist for support or to book a nurse appointment - 024 7645 7551
Only those patients who are truly unable to complete an online patchs request and cannot use the telephone options can have a receptionist complete their patchs request for them in person at reception. This is to avoid large queues forming at reception.
We make every effort to keep appointment times but inevitably when we are faced with complex problems or issues that need more time we may overrun. We are grateful for your patience and understanding when this happens.
All of our clinicians can help with acute and long-term health problems and illnesses. This will involve advice on how you can help yourself, sometimes it will involve medication or treatment within the surgery, and at others referral to local services or secondary care (Hospital) may be necessary.
Patients can request to see the clinician of their choice, and we will try to accommodate this where possible, for ongoing and long-term health problems it is often best to see the same clinician. However, particularly when you need to see a more doctor urgently this may not be possible.
How do I cancel my appointment?
If you no longer require your appointment or are unable to attend please let the surgery know at the earliest opportunity by calling reception on 024 7645 7551. This will allow us to offer the appointment to somebody else who needs it.
For our pre-booked face to face appointments you should receive a reminder 24 hours prior to your appointment time, this will also contain a link which you can use to cancel your appointment if necessary.
Please do not submit a Patchs request to inform us that you cannot attend your appointment if it is on the same day as this may not be viewed in time to offer the appointment to somebody else.
Helping the appointment system run smoothly
- One appointment is for one person and for one problem. If you want another member of your family to see the doctor or nurse, please book a further appointment.
- Please remember that consultations are time limited, there are other patients waiting for their appointment also, many of these may be telephone consultations so just because the waiting room may not be full, doesn't mean we are not busy.
- When arriving at the surgery for your appointment, always inform reception.
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow time for booking in at reception. If you are late for your appointment you will not be seen, you will have to resubmit a request for a new appointment.
- Sometimes people can forget to tell the doctor all the important information about their problem. It may help to write their symptoms down.
- If you don’t understand what the doctor or nurse says to you, please don’t be afraid to ask for a further explanation.
- It can sometimes help to have a partner or friend with you.
- Appointments may not be required to have insurance forms completed or renewal of sickness certificates.
- If you would like a chaperone please speak to the Doctor.
