How To Request A Repeat Prescription
It is much easier for most people to request a repeat prescription by using your NHS App or using Patient Access account, these can both be accessed via App or via web browser. (How do I request prescriptions for someone I care for?)

You can also request your repeat prescriptions via Patchs if you have fully registered your account (How to link your online services account to Patchs).
However if you need to either:
- Request re-issue of your Repeat Dispensing medications
- Request a medication that is not on your repeat list for some reason (such as an acute medication you need again, or one which has expired, or sometimes one which is listed as variable use)
Then please select "other" when submitting a request for these using patchs during our patchs opening hours.
Important: Important
We do not accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone or verbally at reception. Our reception staff do not have the training and experience to manage prescription requests and this could lead to the risk of medication errors. We also do not accept medication requests via the patchs automated telephone assistant.
If you cannot use the methods listed above you should drop in the right hand side of your prescription with the medications that you require ticked from your repeat list. Alternatively you can ask your pharmacy to request your prescriptions on your behalf.
Requesting Prescriptions for someone I care for (proxy access)
If you want to request repeat prescriptions for somebody that you care for you can do this by setting up proxy access to that persons account with their consent.
- If you are both registered at the same surgery then you can do this through the nhs app or via patient access
- If you are registered at a different surgery then you currently cannot set up proxy access through the NHS app. However you can still do this via Patient Access, and so this may be a better option for some, such as people wishing to request prescriptions for an elderly relative.
For both options above you will need to complete a proxy access consent form and either drop this into reception or email it through to us.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a prepayment certificate (PPC).
